The Master in Psychology of Justice is a project of balanced articulation between the theoretical components of this field of knowledge (Psychology and Law), with the research and exercise of professional practice, which are inherent to obtaining an academic degree. Thus, the student will be familiarized with the legal concepts that he/she will have to handle in order to understand the Portuguese legal system, along with the internalization of the theoretical models that support the conceptions of crime, offenders, victims and people at risk.

Additionally, the student will learn forensic assessment and intervention procedures, applied to the different actors (e.g., adult and young offenders, children and young people at risk, children and adult victims) and to the procedural situations in which they find themselves (e.g., danger and risk, criminal law suits or civil law suits). This articulation between knowledge and practice will allow the student to develop autonomous decision-making processes and courses of action, associated with a critical reflection of their performance and based on an internal debate, which privileges respect for the ethical and deontological principles of the professional practice, awareness of sociocultural biases and awareness of human and social diversity.

The course also encourages the continuation of third cycle studies.
