Angela Costa Maya has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minho, and is a lecturer in Applied Psychology Department, School of Psychology, University of Minho.
She is Vice President of the School of Psychology and President of the Pedagogical Council. She is member of the board of the International Society of Behavioral Medicine, and was President of the Portuguese Society of Health Behavior. She is coordinator of the Research Unit on Victims, Offenders and the Justice System in the Research Centre for Psychology of the School of Psychology, University of Minho.
Is member of the Scientific Council of Stress Resource Center of the Ministry of Defense and has been a coordinator and co-coordinator of projects funded by the Foundation of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense.
She has collaborated and is coordinator of several research projects in health, trauma, justice, and violence, and authored or co-authored national and international publications on these subjects.
She is interested in understanding the health impact of exposure to adversity, potentially traumatic experiences and factors associated with it; as well as pathways from victimization to delinquency.
