Maria do Céu Taveira is Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Psychology, School of Psychology, University of Minho. Between 1982 and 1991 she was a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto. She completed her PhD in Educational Psychology at the University of Minho in 1997.
She was coordinator of the Masters course in School Psychology and of the PhD program in Vocational Psychology, at the University of Minho. She directed« the Counseling Psychology Center and coordinated the Career Counseling Unit of at that Center of the School of Psychology of the University of Minho.
Currently, she is and integrated member and coordinator of the Learning, Instruction and Career Unit, in the Research Center in Psychology (CIPsi) at the University of Minho, and responsible for the Research Group in Career Development and Counseling.
Her main areas of interest focus on the career development issues, in particular the study of the career exploration process; the design and study of career interventions’ process and outcomes; and the study of careers in specific groups (e. g., women, students with learning and behavioral problems, youth under state protection, refugees, unemployed people).
Dr. Maria do Céu Taveira is a founding member and leader of the Portuguese Association for Career Development (www.apdc.eu), member of the board of the Psychology Association of the University of Minho (www.apsi.uminho.pt), and member of the Assembly of Representatives of the Portuguese Psychologists Association (https://www.ordemdospsicologos.pt/pt).
