Traços psicopáticos e atividade criminal em delinquentes juvenis

Psychopathic traits and criminal activity among juvenile delinquents

Our research aims at analyzing the relations between psychopathic traits and Moffitt’s (1993) developmental taxonomy of Adolescence-Limited vs. Life-Course-Persistent Antisocial Behavior, paying special attention to the importance of the callous-unemotional traits dimension in characterizing criminal activity. Our sample will be made up of incarcerated youths from the juvenile detentions centers and prisons of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice and youths from Public Schools (age range 12 to 20 years old). We will also validate some of the psychometric measures to be used during the research, namely: Psychopathy Checklist: Youth Version (PCL:YV; Forth et al. 2003), Inventory of Callous-Unemotional Traits (ICU; Essau et al., 2006), Barratt Impulsiveness Scale 11 (BIS-11; Patton et al., 1995), Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI; Calhoun et al., 2000), Basic Empathy Scale (BES; Jolliffe & Farrington, 2006), Socially Desirable Response Set 5 (SDRS-5; Hays et al., 1989), Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory (Andershed et al., 2002), Reactive-Proactive Aggression Questionnaire (RPQ; Raine et al., 2006), Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A; LaGreca & Lopez, 1998).
