- Motivation letter describing the applicant's academic background, main research interests, and previous scientific experience, clearly stating the main reasons for applying and the objectives to be achieved

International applicants must request degree recognition for academic purposes before submitting their application by sending a request to sec_pedagogica@psi.uminho.pt.
2. Evaluation and Ranking Criteria
Eligible applications will be scored on a scale from 1.00 to 5.00. Applicants with a final score below 3.00 will not be admitted.
In the event of a tie, applicants will be ranked according to the scores awarded in the following order of precedence:
A1. Academic Background
A2. Personal Curriculum
A3. Motivation Letter
All scores will be expressed to two decimal places. Values resulting from the application of the formulas set out in these guidelines will be rounded to the second decimal place: when the third decimal place is equal to or greater than 5, the value will be rounded up; when it is less than 5, the second decimal place will remain unchanged.
2.1 Criterion A – Applicant Merit
Applicant merit is assessed based on three parameters:
- A1. Academic Background – weighting of 50%
- A2. Personal Curriculum – weighting of 30%
- A3. Motivation Letter – weighting of 20%
The score for Criterion A is calculated using the following formula:
A = (A1 × 0.5) + (A2 × 0.3) + (A3 × 0.2)
2.1.1 A1 – Academic Background
This parameter is calculated based on the final classification shown on the certificate of the academic degree submitted with the application, according to the following scale:
- 1 point – Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) with a final grade below 14
- 3 points – Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) with a final grade of 14 or 15
- 4 points – Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) with a final grade of 16
- 5 points – Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) with a final grade above 16
2.1.2 A2 – Personal Curriculum
In assessing this parameter, the jury will consider the applicant's curriculum in an integrated manner, based on an overall analysis of the merit of their personal, academic, scientific, and professional trajectory.
This assessment may include academic results not considered under A1, provided that the relevant certificates are submitted, as well as other relevant elements of the applicant's profile, such as participation in academic mobility programmes, collaboration in research teams or projects, publications, and presentations at scientific meetings.
2.1.3 A3 – Motivation Letter
This parameter assesses the clarity with which the applicant presents the reasons for applying, the quality of the writing, and the expectations regarding the contribution of the master's degree to their future professional or research pathway in the field of Psychology of Justice.
Applicants may be invited to an interview whenever further clarification is required regarding curricular content.
